Emergency Lighting Maintenance
Routine Checks of Emergency Lighting
Following the installation of emergency lighting, engineers will train building or facilities managers to conduct routine checks and tests. These daily and monthly checks support the early identification of issues. However, annual checks are best carried out by a qualified fire system engineer.
A Guide to Emergency Light Testing in accordance with BS5266
- Daily – visual check of central controls
- Monthly – testing that each emergency lamp illuminates. Usually, systems can be tested using a key-operated ‘secret switch’, usually located near the main fuse board.
- Annual – full discharge testing ensures the lights remain illuminated for three hours and the batteries recharge. Our experienced maintenance engineers are equipped to complete these tests as part of the annual maintenance service. We will provide all relevant documentation to ensure compliance with fire regulations.
- Record – A record of monthly and annual tests should be recorded in the logbook.
Emergency Lighting Upgrades
If the emergency lighting is faulty, we will diagnose the issue and recommend the necessary upgrade to ensure its reliable operation. Our experienced engineers supply and install replacement batteries, parts or full emergency lighting systems.
We provide emergency lighting maintenance, supply and installation services to customers in Buckinghamshire, the Home Counties and London.
Smoke reduces visibility instantly, so emergency lighting is critical to aiding escape from a building. Therefore, routine tests and annual maintenance inspections are essential fire safety requirements.
