Aylesbury Electrical Services started in 1977, offering contracted electrical works to Aylesbury and surrounding areas. This increasingly included installing fire alarm systems using MICC cabling and associated systems. By the early 90s, the decision was made to focus entirely on fire alarm systems, and Aylesbury Fire Systems was born. The combined skills of sales director Richard Lipscombe and technical/managing director John Espiner formed a solid platform for a long-standing business.
Throughout the late 90s, AFS was lucky to win contracts with several Hertfordshire hospitals and the University of Westminster’s London campuses.
Fire systems of this age were working on MS DOS via Windows 3.1 machines! Software chips were blown internally at our offices.
We continue to specialise in fire alarm systems for healthcare and education. Thirty years on, we fully understand the specific requirements of these settings and aim to make it as easy as possible for building and facilities managers.
In the early days, the equipment was complex and required technical knowledge and expertise in coding. Senior management took on all the engineering requirements and kept pace with technological development to ensure they provided customers with the best products and services. Their commitment and exacting standards enabled the business to grow.
